Terms of use

1. Eligibility & accounts

The service is reserved for organisations entitled to install the CheckLogs agent on their servers. Authentication is linked to your work email address and can be protected with multi-factor authentication (MFA).

You are responsible for guarding your credentials and every action carried out under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.

2. Agent usage

You may deploy the agent on your own machines and must inform your collaborators about metric collection. Undocumented modifications of the agent are forbidden.

Generated logs must be used solely to monitor your infrastructure. The agent runs without root privileges and collects only the system metrics required for monitoring.

3. User responsibilities

By using CheckLogs, you agree to:

• Keep API keys or tokens away from unauthorised third parties
• Stay within the limits of your subscription (servers, alerts, retention)
• Inform the CheckLogs team if you suspect a security incident
• Refrain from any unlawful or malicious use of the service
• Keep your contact information up to date
• Respect the API rate limits assigned to your plan

4. Plans & billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually depending on your choice. Pricing and limits are detailed in the dashboard. We provide 30 days' notice for any price change.

Payments are processed exclusively via Stripe. If payment fails your access may be suspended after notification. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

5. Service availability

We aim for maximum service uptime but cannot guarantee 100%. Planned maintenance windows are announced in advance. We are not responsible for data loss caused by your own infrastructure.

6. Intellectual property

The CheckLogs agent is open-source under the MIT licence. The dashboard, API, and documentation remain our exclusive property. You retain full ownership of your collected data and metrics.

7. Limitation of liability

CheckLogs is provided “as is”. We are not liable for indirect damages, data loss, or service disruption. Liability is limited to the amount paid for the service over the last 12 months.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time via support. Your data will be deleted in line with our retention policy (30 days for metrics, 12 months for audit logs).

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access in case of malicious activity, breach of contractual limits, or non-payment after notice.

9. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be announced by email 30 days in advance. Continued use of the service after that time constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Legal notices

CheckLogs operates from France. Application infrastructure and data are hosted in OVHcloud data centres located in France.
